On Valentine’s Day, Tinder inspired us to take a look at a product online as you would a future relationship. Here’s what we learned!

Knowing that people simply do judge a book by its cover:

  93% of consumers consider the visual appearance of a product to be a key factor when making a purchase online*.
  It takes about 0,05 seconds for users to form an opinion about your website. Better make it an attractive experience.
  38% of people stop engaging with a website if the content or layout are unattractive.

Size does matter, numbers don’t lie:

   47% of users expect a maximum of 2 seconds loading time for an average website.
   Slow-loading websites cost retailers $2.6 billion in lost sales each year.

So good news for those wanting to match their products with potential buyers and have them live happily ever after (i.e. no returns ;-).

Think:

    Realistic packshots  – what you see is what you get (and get less returns).
    Consistent  imagery throughout your site making it easy on the eye.
    Small file sizes so your website doesn’t take forever to load (and your SEO doesn’t get botched).
